Do you want a silent Telecaster?
Here are some great pictures from my good friend Andrew Rothstein.
He posts at GuitarNuts as "AR" and is ready and willing to answer questions. arothstein@ureach.com

The text below is in Andrew's own words. As you can see, he is understandably proud of his work!

  • This Tele has a USA Warmoth (lic. by Fender) Vintage/Modern FAT BACK Neck. The vintage modern neck has a vintage truss rod but a modern compound radius. We all know the age old problem with Fender necks is that if you try and bend notes in the upper register, your notes will "choke" because the neck is radiused. The compound radius solves this problem by starting out with a strong radius (more curve) in the lower frets for easy chord playing, but gradually flattening out as you move up the fingerboard for easy string bending. The frets are the 6130 (medium jumbo) preferred by Jazz and Rock guitarists alike. The Fat Back neck is 1 11/16 inch at the nut and Vintage style Kluson Tuners are used.
  • Light Weight (3 pounds), hand made Swamp Ash body with striking grain pattern, constructed to PRE-CBS Fender Specs. It is rare to find a piece of swamp ash this light.
  • Professionally hand finished in Butterscotch Blond with Genuine Nitrocellulose Lacquer. This is what Fender used in the good ole' days and it is one of the main reasons those old Fenders sounded so great. You heard me correctly......"Sound." Nitro is a thin finish that doesn't interfere with the tonal properties of the wood. Do you know why modern cheaper guitars are finished in polyurethane or polyester (yuch) and not nitro? Because it takes much much longer to finish an instrument in nitrocellulose lacquer takes MUCH MUCH longer. The finish alone on this instrument took two months. (ed. don't hold back Andrew, tell us what you really think... )
  • Genuine Fender Texas Special Lead & Rhythm Pickups - great twang and punch out of these!! 4-way selector switch. The 4-way switch is a terrific and useful upgrade because it adds noticeable functionality but doesn't alter the appearance of the guitar in any way shape or form. It enables you to dial up 4 tones: Bridge alone, Neck alone, Both in Series, Both in Parallel.
  • Electronics are professionally shielded and soldered for continuity using copper foil to dramatically reduce hum.
  • Top quality and authentic electronic components including genuine CTS pots, Orange Drop Capacitors and vintage style cloth wire. All electronic components are treated with Caig DeoxIT D100L for long, trouble-free operation. Notice the neat connections.
  • Fender 5-screw single ply black pickguard.
  • Fender reissue bridge with compensated brass saddles.
  • Fender decal.
  • Vintage style hardware including "ash tray" bridge cover.
  • Vintage style tweed hardshell case protects the investment.
  • All parts are made in the USA

1. Here is the exterior of this magnificent Tele. Man, it looks like butter!!

2. Mmmmm... pass me a spoon! What a colour!

3. Here's the body cavity shielding. Great job Andrew!

4. Here's the control cavity shielding. Good choice to use the Orange Drop.

Thanks for sharing your work with us, Andrew!
